Following 10 years of international experience in hotel development with the international hotel chain Meliá where he became AVP for Hotel Development, and in the field of quality control in the consumer and tourism industry for SGS –the world’s leading quality, inspection and testing firm- , where he became divisional director in Spain and Corporate Director reporting to the Geneva HQ, he joined Cemusa in 2002, as Corporate Development Director holding responsibility for Cemusa’s international expansion, with emphasis on tenders in Europe and the Americas.     He oversaw Cemusa’s successful tenders in several cities including the one that awarded the company New York City’s Coordinated Street Furniture Franchise in 2006, worth 1.6 billion $US.

At that time Carlos Pujol oversaw operations in the United States and Brazil, and in particular in New York, until taking over responsibility as CEO for Cemusa’s operations in the US in September of 2009.  Working in close collaboration with New York City’s department of transportation, Cemusa’s street furniture initiative earned numerous accolades and enjoyed consistently very high approval ratings from New Yorkers. While at the helm of Cemusa, he reshaped the teams, consolidated the operations and managed the introduction of new technologies such as digital advertising, wireless and mobile capabilities, all of which contributed to almost double revenues in 4 years.

In May 2014 he joined Gowex, a leading international firm in the field of Wireless Smart Cities, as CEO for North America.

A graduate in Law from Universidad Complutense in Madrid Spain, he also holds an MBA degree from the University of Illinois.  He has led different initiatives in the areas of quality of education and sustainable development with international bodies.  A born New Yorker fluent in five languages, he has lived most of his life in Europe while travelling extensively to the United States.

In 2010, Carlos Pujol became a Board Member and President of The Spain U.S. Chamber of Commerce in NY.  Carlos Pujol is also a Board Member of The Municipal Art Society, Ballet Hispanico, and The Outdoor Advertising Association of America.
